Paver Calculator by Size

Last updated June 2, 2026

Use this size chart when you want a fast material list before entering custom dimensions. It compares popular patio sizes by pavers, base tons, bedding sand, polymeric sand bags, and edging.

Quick answer

  • A 10x10 patio needs about 495 standard 8x4 pavers with 10% waste.
  • A 12x16 patio needs about 4.17 tons of 4 inch paver base at the default density.
  • Use the complete estimator below when your paver size, depth, or prices are different.

How to use this size chart

Pick the patio size closest to your project, then use the row as a first shopping-list estimate. The numbers are designed for early supplier calls, not final engineering specifications.

If your patio is not one of these sizes, enter the exact length and width in the calculator above. The calculator will recalculate pavers, base, sand, polymeric sand, edging, and cost from the same dimensions.

Why paver count changes quickly

The paver count depends on the face size of the paver and the waste allowance. A standard 8x4 in paver covers about 0.22 sq ft, so a 100 sq ft patio starts near 450 pavers before waste.

Patterns with many cuts, borders, curves, or diagonal layouts should use more waste than a simple rectangular running bond pattern.
